Ink Exploration on Canvas

Materials: Water-Based Ink, Alcohol Ink on Linen Canvas
Dimensions: 8” x 10”

This piece was inspired by an abstract artist Michelle Armas. I worked with most of my favorite vibrant water-based ink colors — pink, yellow, blue and green, and drew simple shapes on canvas to create a composition. Then I used a wet brush to connect some of the shapes — the blended bleeding colors created another interesting expression to the simple shapes. With a bottle of white ink, I added them as highlights. I love the abstract shapes in vivid colors against the raw linen canvas.

My favorite part of this work is the bright pink star shape that connects all the shapes together. I also think the shapes that bleeds out of the frame makes an interesting composition.
